1. Download the 3.1.2 iOS operating system firmware file to your computers hard drive by clicking on the firmware link.
2. Double-click the iTunes icon on your computer.
3. Connect your iPod touch to your computer using the iPod touch data cable.
4. Select your iPod touch device from the list of "Devices" on the left side of the iTunes window.
5. Press and hold the "Shift" key on your computer's keyboard.
6. Click the "Restore" button.
7. Release the "Shift" key.
8. Click "OK" to confirm that you want to restore your device using the 3.1.2 iOS firmware file.
9. Wait for iTunes to complete the sync process and downgrade your iPod touch device. iTunes will prompt you when the process completes.
