1. Turn on your iPhone or iPod Touch and connect it to your computer through the USB cable that came with the device.

2. Download and install the Redsn0w software. Double-click on the "Redsn0w" application once it downloads to your computer's desktop.

3. Click on the "Install Cydia" option from the menu that appears on the window. Click the "Unlock" button.

4. Press and hold the "Power" button on your iPhone or iPod Touch when prompted. Press the "Home" button on the device when prompted. Release the "Power" button when prompted, but keep holding the "Home" button.

5. Wait for the program to install. This should take about one minute to complete. When the device is unlocked, it will restart and load to the home screen.
