I am not responsible for anything that happens to your device, even if it's voiding your warranty! You shall do this at your own risk!
This will be a tutorial on how to Unlock/Jailbreak iPhone 3g(s) after updating to 4.1 and 4.2.1! As we all know, Once updating to 4.0.2(and higher), the iDevice will not be able to be unlocked and used with an un-official iPhone carrier like T-Mobile! So, if you follow this tutorial, it will guide you through on how to Unlock/Jailbreak iPhone 3g(s) on 4.1/4.2.1!
This tutorial is done the same way for 4.1 and 4.2... So don't ask if it's for 4.1 or 4.2, IT'S FOR BOTH!
Information: When updating your iPhone 3g(s) to 4.1/4.2.1 (4.2 is the same thing as 4.2.1) your baseband will update to 5.14.02 or 5.15.04, when following this tutorial, you will change the baseband to 6.15.00, which is a iPad baseband and it shall let you use T-Mobile on your iPhone again!
First of all, You want to download the following files (Download the Program and the firmware you need for your iPhone):
- Redsn0w 0.9.6b5 (Windows): [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
- Redsn0w 0.9.6b5 (Mac): [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Move all files, such as iPhone firmwares and Redsn0w to your desktop.
Step three (3):
Restore iPhone with 4.1 or 4.2 firmware given to you above.
How to do:
1.) Open iTunes
2.) Click on the Device

3.) After you open the firmware, it should say "IPSW successfully identified"
Then click next.

Step six (6): When you click next, wait for everything to load, then choose the same options as the ones below (You can also choose other desired options, but you have to choose the ones below; it's a must):

When everything is done in Redsn0w, the rest of the process takes place on your iPhone and should look somewhat like this:

Now, the iPhone is completely jailbroken, all we have to do is the unlocking part on the iPhone! If all you wanted to do is jailbreak it, STOP here, if you need to unlock it, continue following the tutorial!
Step eight (8): When iPhone boots up, open up Cydia.

Click on "Manage" Section at the bottom of the Cydia app, then click on "Sources"

You should see a source that says "repo666.ultrasn0w.com" (You will not have as many sources as me; I have previously added sources manually, but you should have repo666 in there as a default option)
Click on that

You should now see something called "Ultrasn0w" inside of repo666 source. Install ultrasn0w.
Your iPhone should reboot and there you have it... You are now on 4.1/4.2+ firmware with a baseband of 6.15.00 and using T-Mobile!
