Defeat all 4 legendary ships

The 4 Legendary Ships are located in each of the corners of the map. One of the locations will have two ships you have to destroy but it only counts as one of the four.

Before attempting this achievement you might want to complete the achievement to fully upgrade the Jackdaw, this will make it easier to destroy the Legendary ships.
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Destroyer The Destroyer achievement in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag worth 426 pointsFully upgrade the Jackdaw.

But you can do it just before fully upgrade your ship. Destroying one of the Legendary Ships gives you 10000R which can help you to fully upgrade the Jackdaw as the upgrades do cost a lot.

The four ships are:

1. The La Dama Negra ( South West )
2. HMS Prince ( South East )
3. El Impoluto ( North West )
4. Royal Sovereign & HMS Fearless ( North East )

1. The La Dama Negra ( South West )

Difficulty rating: 3/4

A mortar + defence specialized ship. Its mortars are very damaging and their hit zones are not highlighted, and its thick armour makes broadside shots almost ineffective. The trick to the mortars is, once they are fired, quickly slow down to half sail and change course. The key to damage dealing is get behind La Dama Negra and fire at its tail, where weak spots spawn more easily, or ram it (credit to anomalystic777).

2. HMS Prince ( South East )

Difficulty rating: 1/4

The easiest legendary ship - having very standard attacks like a normal man-o-war. Keep circling around it, and bombard it with constant mortar shots + broadside round shots. It should go down in no time.

3. El Impoluto ( North West )

Difficulty rating: 4/4

A ram + speed specialized ship. One ram from it can take away nearly 1/3 elite hull. It is impossible to outrun it, and consecutive rams towards Jackdaw's tail will result in quick desynchronization. The key to survive this battle is to avoid its rams at all cost, but if that's impossible, once El Impoluto is charging, ram towards it head-on to reduce damage sustained, then sail past its side and then use this chance to heavy shot/round shot its broadside. For the rest of the time, keep firing mortars at it (since El Impoluto is a fast ship, you need to predict its route and fire mortars slightly ahead)

4. Royal Sovereign & HMS Fearless ( North East )

Difficulty rating: 2/4

Two man-o-wars. Their attacks aren't particularly fierce when they're both present. However, once one is down, its brother enters a frenzy ramming mode, much like El Impoluto, making the battle a lot harder. Therefore, the key to winning is instead of focusing on etiher one, fight both of them simultaneously. Maintain a suitable distance from them to avoid their broadside shots (credit to oLachlan), and don't get sandwiched between them. Before killing one, make sure its brother is near-death. Afterward, use mortars to eliminate the remaining one as quickly as possible.
