PSN Errors E-80E80034 and NW-31453-6 Encountered by New PS4 Owners

4.6
New PlayStation 4 owners who just bought their console in North America during the special midnight launches are reporting different errors when trying to connect the next-gen console to the PlayStation Network, including codes E-80E80034 and NW-31453-6.

The PS4 is launching as we speak across North America and lots of different stores are organizing midnight launches for the next-gen console.

Now, new owners of the device are trying to connect their console to the PlayStation Network in order to download the required 1.50 firmware update but quite a few are encountering problems with the online service.

More specifically, they're met with error messages containing the codes E-80E80034 and NW-31453-6, which both stop the login process into the PSN.

Sony offers no details about these two errors, according to GameInformer, so it's unclear just why they're happening.

Foolish Looks like the PS4 is having a pretty rough start.

Which is not what Sony fanboys wanted to see.
The bricked consoles are the worse though, nothing compared to just errors.
Yeah, I would be so hateful if that happened to me.

If I were to get a bricked console, I would sell the replacement and have to buy a Xbone.

UMF That's a very rough start for Sony's next generation...

From bricked and defective consoles to errors on perfectly fine consoles.
Very frustrating.

It is kind of a big deal when even the company that made the console doesn't know what the errors are.
I was hoping this many problems wouldn't happen around launch.

There is way too many issues too soon.

It was really expected for the launch of the console to be rough. Hopefully they can fix most of it up by the next year

EA have actually retracted this statement already and have redirected people to Playstation support pages.

EA's original statement in full:

"Sony has released a firmware update for the PlayStation 4 that is required for many features on the console. However, this update also results in stability issues while playing games on the system.
Unfortunately since it's an issue with Sony's firmware, it requires a new update to fix it. Sony is working to resolve the issue as quickly as they can. They will update their System Update page as new versions are made available, and we will keep this page updated as we find out more."

honestly, what did sony expect, 2 required updates in 1 day, 1 for the PS4 the other for the ps Vits. they needed to increase server capacity more than they did.

And this is why I don't want next gen until down the road. With-in 12 hours of PS4 release they are already having over heating issues with the hard ware? Like really?
