Xbox 360 Servers Shutting Down in November? “Not True” Says Spencer

4.6
Apparently, talk has been going around about Microsoft shutting down servers for the Xbox 360 in November, thus ending multiplayer support for a number of titles. It’s an odd decision, especially considering the number of previous gen titles that still require Xbox Live Gold for multiplayer support, but not necessarily the strangest. After all, the original Xbox’s services were shut down in April 2010, nearly 10 years after that console launched.

Fortunately, it doesn’t seem like this will be the case. According to Xbox boss Phil Spencer when asked on Twitter about the same, “Not true.” Which is as succinct an answer as it gets.

Despite a decade already passing since the Xbox 360 has released, Microsoft continues to report on sales and profits from the same. Recently, Microsoft introduced Xbox 360 backwards compatibility for the Xbox One and updates fans on the newest games to make the jump. So it’s a given that the Xbox 360 isn’t going away any time soon. What are your thoughts? Let us know below.

Shutting the servers down would be a big blow for them. 360 is still very active so it wouldn't make sense.

Yeah i thought they had announced the servers would be reviewed in 2017 and if the wasn't enough players using the server they will shut them off. (Just what i heard)

Xaldin Pretty obvious that this was not going to happen

Faux25 if they want people on the horrible console that looks like a vcr and cant do 1080p then they will shut down soon to make everyone buy the xbone

Cause there's a big difference between 900p and 1080p. Plus I don't see how a console looks is a bad thing lol. You play for video games not looking at the console lol

Aesthetics is half the battle. You wouldn't buy a Ferrari engine with a Renault body kit.

Xgif Every year it seems like something like this comes up. If they take them offline though I hope they at least make BO1 and a couple other games backwards compatible.

the games that are backwards compatible still use the 360's servers

If they make it backwards compatible and take down the 360 servers, it will DEFINITELY not have any live support. Take a look at the 360 backwards compatibility to the original Xbox. It will happen at some point. Hopefully not any time soon.

I don't think they will do this until more of the popular games are backward compatible.
