Sony promises to extend PS Plus and PS Now subs after outage

Yesterday’s extended PlayStation Network service interruption will not affect your running subscriptions’ balance.

The PlayStation Network went offline for ten hours yesterday all across the world. Users couldn’t access the store on PS4, PS3, or Vita, and were unable to play any games that relied on a server connection.

Although the service is now back online, Sony never said what caused the outage. The platform holder did however promise to reimburse those of us with PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now subscriptions, in addition to those who had movies or TV shows rented through the store.

Sony took to twitter to confirm users will receive subscription extensions, and promised more details soon.

Lmao, glad I didn't buy the ps4. This is great of sony to do, but it doesn't make up for their biggest title (Black Ops 3) being ruined by glitchers etc.

People saying xbox would not do this your hurting your own platform lol live never goes down weekly like psn does and when it does go down like once a month its never fully down and certainly not for a day or 2 and not a whole month lol. That being said i'm running on 3 free years of live right now due to Microsoft customer service making mistakes that inconvenienced me so if they cause a problem they do pay you back. Sony said the reason they started charging for psn was to improve it where are the improvements? They'd have been better off leaving it free and using the whole "well its free" excuse.

That is a very good point. PSN goes down so often that Sony needs to compensate its users at this point for having to deal with about every week. Xbox Live almost never goes down and when it does it is never for as long as when PSN is down.

When PSN goes down for a short time no compensation, when it goes down for a long time compensation. When Xbox Live goes down for a short time no compensation (but expects compensation) when xbox live goes down for a long time....oh wait never does unexpectedly.

If xbox goes down for a while, they will tell you why, not only that is always planned. I haven't had a drastic outage for xbox live, like I have for psn
