Sony promises to extend PS Plus and PS Now subs after outage

4.7
Yesterday’s extended PlayStation Network service interruption will not affect your running subscriptions’ balance.

The PlayStation Network went offline for ten hours yesterday all across the world. Users couldn’t access the store on PS4, PS3, or Vita, and were unable to play any games that relied on a server connection.

Although the service is now back online, Sony never said what caused the outage. The platform holder did however promise to reimburse those of us with PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now subscriptions, in addition to those who had movies or TV shows rented through the store.

Sony took to twitter to confirm users will receive subscription extensions, and promised more details soon.

I remember years and years ago when PSN went down for most of a summer, they gave everyone PS Plus for like a month lol.

TayIor I have to give it to them, I don't feel like Xbox would do this for it's users.

LebronIs6 Your funny, i like you. JK you dont know your facts kid

GamingGunz Xbox live goes down like every 3 months or something and when it does its like for 5 mins more then 10.

Xbox has always had it better than PlayStation when it comes to security and server reliability hate to burst your bubble fanboy lmfao

Xbox may have had it better, but better is not good. Both of them are inexcusable. If you are paying for a service that allows you to go online and play, and it goes out for any amount of time longer than a couple hours, that is a disappointment, and sadly that is where both microsoft and sony have both failed. Regardless of the extent of both of their failures, they have both failed and it's sad to see.

At least this is something, can't complain.

gtapro151 People saying xbox would not do this your hurting your own platform lol live never goes down weekly like psn does and when it does go down like once a month its never fully down and certainly not for a day or 2 and not a whole month lol. That being said i'm running on 3 free years of live right now due to Microsoft customer service making mistakes that inconvenienced me so if they cause a problem they do pay you back. Sony said the reason they started charging for psn was to improve it where are the improvements? They'd have been better off leaving it free and using the whole "well its free" excuse.

I go on my PS4 almost every day and this is the first time I have gone to go on it and I haven't been able to play online for a long time, I would say the last time was last christmas when both consoles was DDOS'd but that is like a year ago so I doubt that it hasn't been down since then but that honestly is the last time I remember not being able to play online. Most of the scenarios where people say it's 'down', it is only down for maintenence and if you've signed in prior to it, you can still play online and only some features are effected.

JRMH Lmao, glad I didn't buy the ps4. This is great of sony to do, but it doesn't make up for their biggest title (Black Ops 3) being ruined by glitchers etc.

Wouldn't say that's Sony's problem, more Treyarch and I wouldn't say it's exactly ruined.

This is what annoys me about the news on this website.
