New Xbox One UI does not support Kinect gestures

4.6
Microsoft dropped Kinect gestures from the New Xbox One Experience.

One of Kinect’s main features on Xbox One is that it allows you to raise your hand, and swipe left or right to navigate the console’s dahsboard. Microsoft is dropping this feature from the upcoming user interface overhaul.

According to Microsoft’s Mike Ybarra, very few people used them, which is why the new dashboard ditched them.

“On gestures, when we looked at the New Xbox One Experience we wanted to prioritize features that customers were asking for, plus areas of improvement from the existing Xbox One UI,” he told Windows Central.

“With gestures, the reality was the usage was very, very low. So for now, we’ve cut that from the New Xbox One Experience.”

Ybarra confirmed that this week’s launch of the new dashboard will not contain Kinect-based gesture support, but that they could always return if feedback suggests fans want them back.

Gestures are completely separate from voice commands, of course, which the new UI supports.

I don't use the gestures either though they were good little features I won't be needing them.

I unplugged my kinect. It's annoying because it randomly signs in other accounts.
