New Xbox One UI does not support Kinect gestures

4.6
Microsoft dropped Kinect gestures from the New Xbox One Experience.

One of Kinect’s main features on Xbox One is that it allows you to raise your hand, and swipe left or right to navigate the console’s dahsboard. Microsoft is dropping this feature from the upcoming user interface overhaul.

According to Microsoft’s Mike Ybarra, very few people used them, which is why the new dashboard ditched them.

“On gestures, when we looked at the New Xbox One Experience we wanted to prioritize features that customers were asking for, plus areas of improvement from the existing Xbox One UI,” he told Windows Central.

“With gestures, the reality was the usage was very, very low. So for now, we’ve cut that from the New Xbox One Experience.”

Ybarra confirmed that this week’s launch of the new dashboard will not contain Kinect-based gesture support, but that they could always return if feedback suggests fans want them back.

Gestures are completely separate from voice commands, of course, which the new UI supports.

never really pushed connect but i feel like they should add the gestures as they pushed kinect so much at launch.

Meh I'm not a big fan of connect . So what ever they do to that does not bother me

I'm not sure if this is a feature that a lot of people used, because I have a kinect and I have never used this feature, but if a lot of people use this I assume they would be pretty upset.

I have one but I don't ever use it so don't bother me

Never had a Kinect for my Xbox One, seems like people that actually use this, might get upset over this.

I kinda like the new dash, but you know who cares about kinect gestures.

Right.
It was a stupid idea with the 360 and still is. like Dismiss said ohh this is so gonna hurt the 7 people who use it. The kinect is the google+ of the xbox world. You don't want it but they force it on you and you still hate it.

Cortana.

If only you can see what Cortana could do...
