Fallout 4 beats GTA 5’s record of most concurrent Steam users

4.6
Mere hours after launch, Fallout 4 has climbed up all the way to top of the Steam charts, second only to Dota 2.

Fallout 4 went live in most parts of the world overnight. That includes the PC version – which, according to Steam’s own stats, is currently the most-played non-Valve game on the service.

Second only to Dota 2, Fallout 4 peaked at 290,461 today. As of this writing, 239,266 players are now exploring its vast wastelands.

Back in April, when the PC version of GTA 5 launched, it climbed to the same spot, but peaked with considerably less players at 196,700.

For Fallout 4, this number encompasses all the copies sold, because all of them come with a Steam code, and users need a Steam account to play it. The game’s disc version doesn’t even contain the full game.

GTA 5, on the other hand, doesn’t rely on Steam, as you just need Rockstar’s Social Club launcher to run the game. That means GTA 5’s numbers only cover those who bought the game on Steam.

Fallout 4 and its season pass, currently also occupy the first and second spots on Steam’s Top Sellers list respectively.

These numbers will likely grow, as Skyrim – a nearly four-year-old game, is always present in Steam’s top 15.

I love this game. It's amazing that I can run it on Ultra on a 960 at 60-75 FPS. QA Test area is nice if you cannot find a certain item or if you want to have a save that isn't going to be played legitimately.

It's a great game. I'm expecting an improved figure, as more people will have it tomorrow and the people who received it today will surely be online tomorrow.

Alot of Fallout players play it on PC and GTA takes a hella good comp to run on PC, ofc it'll pass it's record
