PSN maintenance scheduled for over nine hours on Monday

The PlayStation Network will go down for scheduled maintenance next week.

Sony has announced the next round of PSN’s scheduled maintenance.

This one is a bit long, clocking in at nearly ten hours. It begins Monday, May 11 at 7:30pm PDT / 2:30am GMT and ends Tuesday, May 12 at 5:00am PDT / 12:00pm GMT.

It will affect the PlayStation Store, PSN account management, and PlayStation Video. Online play will only be available if you’ve signed into your account within 24 hours prior to the downtime.

Ummm yes it does, I can recall atleast 3 times where they took it offline for maintenance when the 360 was out. Now XBL just gets taken offline by a bunch of script kiddies who think their cool because they can DDoS.

Yeah lol I'm an Xbox player for life but Xbox goes down all the time unexpectedly. I'd rather have scheduled maintenance than random downtimes. Just not for 9 hours...

lol you do know playstation is better at staying signed up dering this has xbox kept you sign in no so please just read what it said both consoles have ups and downs this is for a reason what did microsoft do oh yeah add in windows crap to the xbox so take you pointless comment else where like who care we can still play online anyways

As long as you sign in prior to the maintenance, you can still play online.

tons of these comments are very upsetting because it shows that our community is extremely lazy. Too lazy to even read the fifth sentence in the blog that says as long as you sign in on Sunday, you can play all Monday. PSN is constantly having updates but they are never full blown outages of the network, in actuality, they are just small sections that tend to not effect everyone playing online. Such as the case here, only the store, account management, and playstation video will be down for 10 hours.

USN Maintenance is always good, I've just never understood why Sony always had to take down their networks to do it. Why don't they do integrated maintenance like Microsoft is my only question

They clearly don't have the right guys for it.
Especially if it takes hours.
