Standalone Xbox One Kinect reportedly launching in October

4.7
Microsoft will reportedly begin selling the standalone Xbox One Kinect sensor on October 6.

That's according to Windows Phone Central, which claims to have learned that the peripheral will be available first in North America, priced at $149. We've asked Microsoft's UK arm for comment.

In May, Microsoft announced plans to drop Kinect as a mandatory Xbox One accessory.

The following month, the company began offering Xbox One without Kinect starting at £349/$399, down from the original RRP of £425/$499.

North American Xbox One sales in June doubled May's total, according to Microsoft.

Development of Kinect games is expected to suffer in the long-term, especially among third-parties, although Microsoft has said it remains committed to the peripheral.

The firm has also released a new Xbox One developer kit giving game creators access to additional system resources previously allocated to Kinect.

The second generation Kinect sensor released for Windows PCs in July priced at £159/$199.

Yoke Why. If the Xbox did bad with the kinnect why sell it alone.

That is how i feel. i feel most of their sales came from selling it with the xbox.

Miss Who would even buy a Kinect in the first place. People that use those as a mic are so annoying.

I can speak out of experiance of using it that it was fun making fun of people using the 360 kinect but the X1 kinect is so much better, my friends did not even know I was using it for a few days. Its so much more clear than before.

Still weird anyone wouldn't want Kinect. The One doesn't feel next Gen without. Being able to walk in my room and throw a movie on Netflix without touching the controller is perfect.

You think they would learn by now that most people don't want to pay extra for the kinect when their sales went up when they released the kinect-less xbox one.

Not surprised at all about this..... It is kinda crazy how much they are going to charge for it though if that is the real price. That makes the $499 deal with the game less expensive and it now makes more sense to buy the kinect with the system.

When I get an Xbox One I'll be happy knowing I don't have to spend an extra $100 for a Kinect I won't use.

-Swift I like this idea. For those that bought the xbox only and later on down the road end up wanting to get the kinect.

The Kinect is useful for Skype and voice commands. Which really come in handy,

yeah i use the kinect for voice commands alot.
