Microsoft announces Surface Pro 3 tablet

4.6
Microsoft has announced a new Surface tablet designed to "take away the conflict" between choosing a laptop or tablet available for purchase starting Tuesday.

TechRadar reports the Surface Pro 3 has a 12-inch screen, the largest yet in Microsoft's line of tablet computers, with a 2160x1440 resolution. It's 9.1mm thick and weighs 800 grams.

"This is the tablet that can replace your laptop," Microsoft's Panos Panay said.

The highest-end model of the Surface Pro 3 uses an Intel Core i7 processor, giving it 10 percent better performance than Surface Pro 2. It will launch with three models - Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 - starting at $799.

The tablet will have greater battery life than previous Surface Pro models and USB 3.0 inputs, and its own line of thinner typing covers. It will also come with a range of docks, up to 4K resolution output, and pens for use on the touch screen.

I honestly don't see myself buying this anytime soon. Maybe if they lowered the price but even then i don't think i will buy this.

Kixa I Never liked tablets not sure whats so special about them.

They're perfect for people who travel a lot for work.

I really don't see a single advantage it has over a laptop?

Much easier to move because of being much smaller, tablets commonly have much better battery life than laptops, and it is much more flexible due to it being between a smartphone and a laptop.

Sounds like a pretty good tablet, but the price is too high for me so I don't ever see myself getting this.

This must be a great tablet if it's 799$. And supports up to a 4K resolution output.
