Microsoft announces Surface Pro 3 tablet

Microsoft has announced a new Surface tablet designed to "take away the conflict" between choosing a laptop or tablet available for purchase starting Tuesday.

TechRadar reports the Surface Pro 3 has a 12-inch screen, the largest yet in Microsoft's line of tablet computers, with a 2160x1440 resolution. It's 9.1mm thick and weighs 800 grams.

"This is the tablet that can replace your laptop," Microsoft's Panos Panay said.

The highest-end model of the Surface Pro 3 uses an Intel Core i7 processor, giving it 10 percent better performance than Surface Pro 2. It will launch with three models - Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 - starting at $799.

The tablet will have greater battery life than previous Surface Pro models and USB 3.0 inputs, and its own line of thinner typing covers. It will also come with a range of docks, up to 4K resolution output, and pens for use on the touch screen.

THG $799? That is way to expensive! iPads are way better than a Microsoft tablet and they are only $200-$300.


I completely agree with you on this. However iPad prices differ depending on which version you get.

You can. This is a laptop away from your laptop. Anything your computer can do, this can do.
Thats.. Actually false. A microsoft tablet can't download steam and play TF2 or Titanfall.

Ive always hated microsoft tablets. iPads are 100x better than Microsoft tablets. My mom has one, it just sucks. Apple>Microsoft

Looking awesome, can't wait to get my hands on one of these. They need to completely kill our the regular Surface line because nobody in the right mind would purchase an ARM tablet, unless they don't know its restrictions.

Same. I'm used to iDevices and iPads are cheaper than this, and I thought my iPad was very expensive.
