Eidos Montreal confirms 27 employees have been hit with layoffs

4.5
The developer behind the hit Thief series, Eidos Montreal, has unfortunately released that their staff have been hit with layoffs costing a whopping 27 employees their jobs just one week after they rebooted their Thief series.

Yes it is true we've let 27 people go today, unfortunately it's something that every major studio has to do sometimes in order to ensure you have the right set up for current and future projects. It's never a nice thing to do but we are genuinely trying to offer as much support as much as we can. We're trying to re-locate as many people as possible into other roles here or at our other studios and we've been in touch several studios in Montreal to arrange a career day for those affected by this. We're very thankful for all their hard work and we sincerely wish them well.Eidos Montreal

Thief was recently launched on February 25th in the US and 28th in Europe for the Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One, and PC platforms.

VIT
Aftercast I'm sure they will hire new people.

they will hire people for sure, but won't have the experience as the people who actually made the game.

Not true at all. They fired those employees because they could not pay for them. What makes you think they will be able to hire immediately after laying 27 people off? Plus, they will not hire inexperienced people, obviously.
