Eidos Montreal confirms 27 employees have been hit with layoffs

4.5
The developer behind the hit Thief series, Eidos Montreal, has unfortunately released that their staff have been hit with layoffs costing a whopping 27 employees their jobs just one week after they rebooted their Thief series.

Yes it is true we've let 27 people go today, unfortunately it's something that every major studio has to do sometimes in order to ensure you have the right set up for current and future projects. It's never a nice thing to do but we are genuinely trying to offer as much support as much as we can. We're trying to re-locate as many people as possible into other roles here or at our other studios and we've been in touch several studios in Montreal to arrange a career day for those affected by this. We're very thankful for all their hard work and we sincerely wish them well.Eidos Montreal

Thief was recently launched on February 25th in the US and 28th in Europe for the Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One, and PC platforms.

This is tragic news!

Eidos was a game producer that touched my childhood. It's sad to see them start to crumble!

Invictus That's sad. They probably had a family to take care off.

They will be able to take care of them I am sure they are getting paid unemployment or something.

They probably got loads of money before they got laid off.

Yes they had families just like all the other people that get laid off everyday

Thief is such a good underrated game. It is better than Assassins Creed IMO.

NBC If that was me I'd be extremely upset.

nah the staff probably got paid allot of money before they were kicked out if they didn't yeah i would have been pissed.

Yeah most likely they did get paid some money, but I don't think the game was a big success.
