Sony resets some PSN account passwords detecting “irregular activity”
According to The Verge, two of its staff members in particular received the mail and readers have reported in as well. You can read the mail in full below.
Dear valued customer,
The Sony Entertainment Network team routinely monitors for any irregular activity, and if such activity is detected, we may sometimes reset passwords of affected accounts to protect consumers and their account information. Your account password was recently reset as part of this process and you will need to create a new password the next time you access your account using the “Forgot Your Password” option on the Sign in screen.
We encourage you to create a complex unique password that you have not used before or isn’t the same password as those associated with other online services. As always, we also encourage you to keep a close eye on your account for any unusual activity including emails about transactions you did not perform. Please click here if you need help in changing your password, or to contact us for additional assistance.
Also, remember that Sony will never ask you for your password or any personal or account information in an email. Please use caution if you receive any emails or phone calls from anyone asking for personal information or directing you to a website where you are asked to provide personal information.
Thank you, The Sony Entertainment Network Team
Sony has not stated where the breach stemmed from, but there have been numerous password leaks of late: Adobe and a security form found a list of passwords for Facebook, Twitter, and other services recently.
Sony also reset passwords in last month in North America and Europe.

I assume that would be kind of annoying but like what if its just a mix up? that would be really frustrating and there might be a problem there

Yop I think it's a good idea.. Microsoft should enforce this.
I don't think they should unless they think they're at threat.

KAQ So they got hacked sorted it without it going public and they are making this as an excuse ? nice ...
would you rather sony reset your password or would you want someone to rack up hundreds of dollars worth of charges and because of the whole hacking thing a while back they are proberly just making a preemptive strike to stop a major problem but it is mostly to do with fifa 14 from what i have been reading

RantKatsumiRyc That's one reason I will never change to PSN because they get hacked way to easily unlike Xbox.
They was really only one major hacking incident back in 2011. Xbox Live could also be hacked some time in the next few years.
Some people are still pretty skeptical about Sony after than incident.
I don't blame them really.. it was a huge security breech that really shouldn't of happened what so ever. Even i am a little skeptical from time to time
