Sony resets some PSN account passwords detecting “irregular activity”
According to The Verge, two of its staff members in particular received the mail and readers have reported in as well. You can read the mail in full below.
Dear valued customer,
The Sony Entertainment Network team routinely monitors for any irregular activity, and if such activity is detected, we may sometimes reset passwords of affected accounts to protect consumers and their account information. Your account password was recently reset as part of this process and you will need to create a new password the next time you access your account using the “Forgot Your Password” option on the Sign in screen.
We encourage you to create a complex unique password that you have not used before or isn’t the same password as those associated with other online services. As always, we also encourage you to keep a close eye on your account for any unusual activity including emails about transactions you did not perform. Please click here if you need help in changing your password, or to contact us for additional assistance.
Also, remember that Sony will never ask you for your password or any personal or account information in an email. Please use caution if you receive any emails or phone calls from anyone asking for personal information or directing you to a website where you are asked to provide personal information.
Thank you, The Sony Entertainment Network Team
Sony has not stated where the breach stemmed from, but there have been numerous password leaks of late: Adobe and a security form found a list of passwords for Facebook, Twitter, and other services recently.
Sony also reset passwords in last month in North America and Europe.

Ryc That's one reason I will never change to PSN because they get hacked way to easily unlike Xbox.
They was really only one major hacking incident back in 2011. Xbox Live could also be hacked some time in the next few years.

Etayea your account will be super secure the NSA won't allow anything to happen to it they will watch it for you.Int_Wolfsir_greco wonder if this deals with the ps4 being hacked? pretty sad that ppl are paying their online fee and they still arent protected on PSN.
I know right? Xbox One FTW.
Sorry, but Microsoft clearly has more and better servers.
That's why I go with Xbox over Playstation. I know that my account will be more secure.

Never said they were hacked. Besides no system in the world is safe from hackers. It's good to change your password anyway, i change mine every 1-2 months, keeps it secure.

Of course everyone has to find a reason why to bash something... "Microsoft is better, Sony always gets hacked." You're so original... why don't you post something else since everyone already said that? You people piss me off.

The free membership has meant that they cannot afford the secure service the XBL users enjoy.
