Some EU PSN passwords reset 'as a precautionary measure'

4.7
Sony has reset the passwords of "a small number" of European PlayStation Network accounts as a "precautionary measure".

In a post on the European PlayStation forums, an online support coordinator said there is "no specific evidence" that any user accounts have been compromised.

"If you have been presented with an incorrect password message today simply select Forgotten Password and reset it," they advised. A follow-up post reads:

We monitor PSN account for any irregular activity. If such activity is detected we will sometimes reset passwords.

This was done purely as precautionary measure and there was no specific evidence that any accounts had be compromised.

Only a small number of users were affected by this and as I said this was precautionary so there is nothing specific to worry about.

I cant provide any further details as this would affect out ability to keep you guys safe.

If anyone has any concerns about there PSN account drop me a PM or give PlayStation Support a call.

You should also contact Support if you are unable to reset your password for any reason.

I May pay an extra 100 for Xbox but at least with that are info is safe. U think they would have learnt from the last time psn was hacked a brought down for 2 weeks i think all the people switching console completely forgot about this. This is the reason i didnt buy PS not because of hardware which everyone rants on about but about the actual servers and information being safe.

I'd laugh so much is Sony got hacked already :D

NotePosted:

Touchable Sounds like accounts have been compromised, and they're keeping it quiet. Just my opinion...

Indeed.

I've never heard about a company resetting people's passwords unless some have been compromised.
"Small number of users" If it's similar to the percentage of defected consoles, that's still around 6,000+ people probably compromised.
