Sony has increased the friend limit on PSN to 2,000 ahead of PS4

Sony has increased the friend limit on PSN to 2,000 ahead of PlayStation 4′s launch next week.

PS4 supports up to 2,000 online friends, an expansion of the 100 friends limit for the PS3 system.

The PS3 system will continue to support up to 100 friends at one time. If you build a friend list bigger than 100 on PS4, Vita, network servers will automatically filter your friend’s list when you play on a PS3 system.

Additionally, you will be able to set and lock a pre-determined friends list to be used while you play on the PS3 system.

Support for the ability to display all of your friends in most applications and games is planned, however, some titles will be limited to the current 100 Friends limit.

You don't need to go up to 2000 friends.. it is just a limit

NDSU LMFAO 2,000 Friends. I have 59 on the Xbox 360 and I barely even play with them. I guess The players who are known on Youtube will have a lot of Friend Requests.


I would hope that they give you an option to block friend requests or something along those lines, if not then some more popular gamers will likely get a little frustrated after a while

Having the ability to have 2000 friends is what it's all about. It's not like they are forcing you to have 2000 or anything..

whats stupid about it ? do you not understand optional? just because you hve a 2k friends list doesn't mean you have to add 2k people you can still add 100 and just have extra space. i have 67 friends on XBL they didnt force me to add all 100 its a OPTION so shut up. i bet if the xbox did this you guys would be like " cool new feature " or " i dont need that many but its cool to know you can add that many "

I don't think people are grasping the point that you have the OPTION to have up to 2,000 friends. Few people will actually reach this amount, and the everyday gamer will no longer actually have to go through their friends list wondering who they can delete in order to make a new friend. I also suspect there will be a way of differentiating your friends so you prioritize who you can see online on your friends list.

Never fully understood the point of having so many. Seems more of a nuisance. Unless they add some sort of 'favorites' option, this'll be a pain. Especially spam wise considering it's already a big issue with popular gamers out there being flooded with friend requests and messages.
