GTA Online includes in-game currency microtransactions – rumour

4.6
A file pulled from Rockstar’s website seems to show that GTA Online players will be able to buy in-game cash with real money.

A Reddit user found and analysed an XML file from Rockstar’s website, which seems to show virtual items available for purchase in Grand Theft Auto 5′s online component.

These items seem to include “cash packs” in denominations of $100,000, $200,000, $500,000 and $1.25 million.

“Cash is king in this town. Solve your money problems and help get what you want across Los Santos and Blaine County with the purchase of cash packs for Grand Theft Auto Online. All purchased cash is automatically deposited into your character’s bank account. Spend wisely, cash therapy is fleeting,” the description in the XML file states.

The news has not been confirmed, but has produced a predictably angry reaction among those who dislike microtransactions, especially given that some players have struggled to earn in-game money in single-player.

Grand Theft Auto Online goes live on October 1. it will include support for up to 16 players with various modes like racing and heists, supported by a crew system. The latest whispers say the player count may have been bumped to 32.

Lets pay money only to get killed and have someone run off with everything you've just paid for. Not the smartest route to take.

If they take the microtransactions route I wont be buying another Rockstar game, I'll just download it instead. Nothing more I despise than milking games that way, EA are the same I've not purchased one of those games in a couple of years and can't say I miss anything either. But I just hope it doesn't come down to that.

All about money.. Great games always get ruined by things like this.

I Think majority of us are hoping this isn't true.

It would ruin the game hugely.

People would end up spending thousands of dollars on ingame cash leading in them running the world, Owning all the good stuff, and giving no-one a chance.

Who has trouble making money??

Even in single player all you need to do is listen to the missions and use the stock market.

Like others said... i think this is stupid. I can see doing microtransation for guns, armor, vechicles, etc... but not for money! But then again, the rich will control the game which is the purpose of the game :P

look at the cry babies crying. oh the irony.

I think this is a horrible idea, it will defeat the purpose of the fun in the game.
