GTA Online includes in-game currency microtransactions – rumour

4.6
A file pulled from Rockstar’s website seems to show that GTA Online players will be able to buy in-game cash with real money.

A Reddit user found and analysed an XML file from Rockstar’s website, which seems to show virtual items available for purchase in Grand Theft Auto 5′s online component.

These items seem to include “cash packs” in denominations of $100,000, $200,000, $500,000 and $1.25 million.

“Cash is king in this town. Solve your money problems and help get what you want across Los Santos and Blaine County with the purchase of cash packs for Grand Theft Auto Online. All purchased cash is automatically deposited into your character’s bank account. Spend wisely, cash therapy is fleeting,” the description in the XML file states.

The news has not been confirmed, but has produced a predictably angry reaction among those who dislike microtransactions, especially given that some players have struggled to earn in-game money in single-player.

Grand Theft Auto Online goes live on October 1. it will include support for up to 16 players with various modes like racing and heists, supported by a crew system. The latest whispers say the player count may have been bumped to 32.

Camin I can see a lot of money getting wasted on this

Yep I won't be one of them though, As I said in other news articles I want to earn my money and not pay my earned money for in game cash. Although I think Rockstar deserve every penny they get.

Anytime a game this popular has microtransactions, there will be hundreds of millions being spent on small like $5 purchases, etc. Once they buy it once, they will feel the need to buy it again.

Microtransactions are the downfall of video games.
People just end up paying to win and the people that don't want to pay for everything end up being behind.

So you can buy money. Hah that's stupid. Why would you not earn it like a real GTA Player..

Mentalist I think this is ruining the online for a bit, your goal is to EARN money, not buying it.

Yeah exactly, I hope this isn't really there, please let it be rumours.

I think it's a smart idea. They know a lot of people are going to be playing the multiplayer so people will be wanting in game currency. I won't be buying any money unless it's extremely cheap but it's a smart idea on Rockstar's behalf.

It isn't smart. Rockstar is selling out - they know people don't like microtransactions, it's obviously going to get a negative response.

They are looking for another opportunity to make money.
They wouldn't be doing it if nobody is gonna buy it.
They spent a crap ton of money to make this game and it is very good, they deserve it.

tell me what difference does it make if they do that or call of duty charges you for map packs. there is no diffrence. if you dont like it dont do the transaction easy as that.
