Xbox One supports partial-download play

The Xbox One will allow users to play games while they are being downloaded, a Microsoft representative confirmed with Polygon this week.

Microsoft previously noted that players could begin playing disc-based games during installation, though the company did not specify whether games downloaded from Xbox Live would share similar functionality. Sony announced that the PlayStation 4 supported partial-download play earlier this year.

Good! My internet is HORRIBLE at 0.36 download speed, so to download a full game took at least 2 days. This is amazing.

I think this is a really good thing because then you can play the game while you download for instance a map pack. :)


I agree, This is really anoying that i could't do anything besides be on dashboard too download a map pack or game

I'm pretty sure you'll be playing with "cloud" files while downloading, so that shouldn't be a problem. How else can you access game files that you don't have?

Finally they are adding this. It's always annoying to have to sit at the dashboard while you wait for a map pack or game to be downloaded.

I think this feature will be appreciated by many people.

Ya it matters because if you where to make something new and cool and I took it gave no credit and everyone thought I made it wouldnt you be mad?


They're consoles, they copy each other but make it in their own way...

Stop complaining and enjoy the console for what it does jeez.


umm no i wouldn't besides microsoft are doing it in there own way so they're not copying so please stop crying
