Rumor - Next gen consoles may allow developers to self patch games

4.7
The giant issues that stem from the current generation of consoles if that EACH time a developer wants to publish a new patch they are required to submit it through the hardware makers internal QA department. While this at first implies better quality overall what happened was up to two month wait times for game NOT published by AAA studios. A example of this being that a CoD patch would be pushed through in the length of a week while a lesser known and played game like Phantasy Star Universe was plagued with month plus wait times for the patch to reach players.

The entire process means it is quite expensive to publish patches on these platforms. The rumor going around is that on the PS4 and the next xbox developers will be able to self-publish patches due to the devices both having been built with the well established PC x86 architecture. Keep checking back for details on their rumors here at TheTechGame!

Immerse Sadly glitches won't be around for as long as they should be, but I guess it's all for the better.. somehow. I still remember the Care Package Glitch for MW2 and they didn't patch that for weeks.

I would rather play a game without glitches anyway.

Same, it gets annoying when people glitch/cheat.

I never really understood why the patches had to be checked... I'm sure they trust ( most of ) the developers?

oh wow the care package glitch, that went on for about a month and a half.
sadly, glitches will be all but a memory in the future with all this attempt to stop modding and such.

I'm actually glad, having glitches patched straight away get's rid of that horrible temptation to do it or not.

indeed, so yes this is definitely a good thing. (and doing glitches can get yourself banned or reset so yes it's a good thing)

They don't patch anything in those old games anymore. They should at least do that though, no matter how small.

Compliance Yeah, no more glitching :)

It's a good and bad thing.

good thing is patches will be out super fast, bad thing is (for people who mod) glitches will be around for a shorter time

It'll be good and bad at times but at least no one will mod to much
