Bungie's 'Destiny' to require a permanent online connection.

4.7
It was recently announced that Bungie's next shooter, Destiny, will require an internet connection in order to play, the studio confirmed at a press event.

The 'Shared World Shooter' will require a permanent online connection to power its persistent, emerging world, the studio stated.

"It's a persistent, shared and connected world, so you will need to be connected to the internet to play Destiny."

Destiny - which publisher Activision calls the world's first shared-world shooter - is built around co-op play and will include elements which are familiar to the massively multiplayer online genre (MMO), such as a persistent world, areas packed with players and quests designed to challenge sizeable groups.

Destiny was confirmed for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but the studio would not confirm a release on next-gen platforms, or PC.

I don't think anyone agrees with this, I also think it's dumb.

Wish it weren't like this.

By the time this game comes out in a year im pretty sure most people will have internet and you are just shit out of luck if you don't.

Mimz OMG this will be amazing. I wish they had a singleplayer area though, I don't mind the constant internet since it sounds based around the internet and it shares qualities with an MMO, but I would like to be able to do something offline if I go somewhere without internet.

As with me, I would like them to have single player as well.

I am not too bothered about it always requiring internet connection to play. The ideas they have come up with and implemented into the game are really good; it should be an enjoyable game.

It's not the fact that they chose to make you have a permanent internet connection. It's the fact that the type of game they are trying to make will require you to have an internet connection. Hence the MMO similarities.

Don't look at it to bluntly kids.

shukamaru all of u who say they should have stayed with halo its becoming like COD and they knew that so they sold it and they also sold it because they have been working on this game since Halo 3

They didn't sell it, their contract with Microsoft ran out and they weren't allowed to make halo titles any more, thus moving the halo project into the hands of 343 industries.

They decided to leave Halo. Microsoft wouldn't have even skipped a beat extending their contract.

And lets all be honest... When we are actually gaming how often do you not have an internet connection...
