Bungie's 'Destiny' to require a permanent online connection.

4.7
It was recently announced that Bungie's next shooter, Destiny, will require an internet connection in order to play, the studio confirmed at a press event.

The 'Shared World Shooter' will require a permanent online connection to power its persistent, emerging world, the studio stated.

"It's a persistent, shared and connected world, so you will need to be connected to the internet to play Destiny."

Destiny - which publisher Activision calls the world's first shared-world shooter - is built around co-op play and will include elements which are familiar to the massively multiplayer online genre (MMO), such as a persistent world, areas packed with players and quests designed to challenge sizeable groups.

Destiny was confirmed for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but the studio would not confirm a release on next-gen platforms, or PC.

I don't think it sounds good. This means you have to always be online to play :(

That sucks they are doing this. I hope they don't follow through with it, otherwise. The game looks awesome.

Mimz OMG this will be amazing. I wish they had a singleplayer area though, I don't mind the constant internet since it sounds based around the internet and it shares qualities with an MMO, but I would like to be able to do something offline if I go somewhere without internet.

Good for guys like you but bad for people who don't have online

At least they will have to make the multiplayer amazing now.
