Bungie's 'Destiny' to require a permanent online connection.

4.7
It was recently announced that Bungie's next shooter, Destiny, will require an internet connection in order to play, the studio confirmed at a press event.

The 'Shared World Shooter' will require a permanent online connection to power its persistent, emerging world, the studio stated.

"It's a persistent, shared and connected world, so you will need to be connected to the internet to play Destiny."

Destiny - which publisher Activision calls the world's first shared-world shooter - is built around co-op play and will include elements which are familiar to the massively multiplayer online genre (MMO), such as a persistent world, areas packed with players and quests designed to challenge sizeable groups.

Destiny was confirmed for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but the studio would not confirm a release on next-gen platforms, or PC.

Most people that play video games have an internet connection anyways.

Yin I don't know how to feel about that considering it's a console game. It seems it could have potential, but needing an internet connection may hurt it as well. Very gutsy move. I'm curious to see how it does.

No different than WoW having to be online in order to play it? Lol. It being a console game will bring everyone there since a lot of people are too faggish to buy a gaming pc. Its going to release for both shitbox and playstation so it will do great and kill call of duty once and for all.

I know it's no different than World of Warcraft, but that is a difference right there. One is a console, while another is on PC. If you have a PC, you most likely have internet and internet hooked up to it. It's not always the case with consoles since they are specifically bought to play games on or offline. I could buy a gaming PC if I wanted to, but I just really don't like PCs. A lot of people also don't have the money to keep putting out on new chips and cards for it. Don't jump to conclusions now. It is on all consoles, but why does that mean it will kill Call of Duty? You don't even know what his game brings or what it feels like. You may not like it, but the numbers don't lie. The majority of people love Call of Duty. It's going to be hard to bring them down. Don't underestimate their fan base.

Toll Sucks to be one of the people who have a bad connection

Sucks to suck lol. But this means a lot of people won't be playing it, so it should be interesting to see if this game will be high in the charts or just a huge failure...
