Report: Next Xbox to "kill" pre-owned, requires always on net connection

4.6
Sources claim to have word that the next-gen Xbox will require an always-on internet connection and will block the use of pre-owned games.

The source says that another source “with first hand experience” of the console adds that games will still be buyable, which are supplied on 50GB Blu-ray discs. It is understood that disc games will use an activation code.

So, no more going to the shops and buying cheap second-hand games? There has to be more people who think this is a bad idea by Microsoft.

Welll say hello to games that will soon cost $100 dollars since there won't be any competition. And guess what, ignorant idiots will still pay it just so they can move their thumbs and be complete jerks to everyone they meet.

Yeah, lets fork out $450 and then be forced to spend $60+ for EVERY game...

By the time we buy 5 games... we could buy a nice computer that will do more then this console... Not only will they kill stores like gamestop but they'll end up hurting themselves if people are not completely blind to their bullshit scams

i only see 2 problems, cant loan games to your friends!
and stores that trade games will be out of business soon. M$, way to kill the work force at Game Stop.

for me, this is not an issue anyway. out of the 100's of games i have bought in my life, it's very rare that i buy a used one.
to mind, only Cod2/3, and SR3. everything else was brand new.

it does sucks that i wont be able to regain some of my money from selling my games!

Horrible horrible idea... micrsoft will *lose* money..unless people are really stupid enough to go buy a 2nd hand game..if they arent playable online -_- but if some ppl are that stupid.. then lol microsoft will make more money.. but this is a bad idea.. and xbox will be very hated upon this, thats why im not buying the next gen console....

liTzMannyl Well actually many other are already doing this, if you are a real gamer and not a call of duty fan, you will be noticing games such as, battlefield, fifa, etc they need a code in order to play online. people were hating ant *****..ng for that but at the end everyone was happy, so people is going to deal with it and get use to it :)

If had to download all my games it would take a ridiculous amount of memory. I have over fifty games from the past seven years I have had my xbox( I don't sell any). If each game is about five gigs then I would need 250 gig hardrive just for the games themselves. Then add in dlc which I have currently filled up 140 gigs of space. Plus the fact that it would take time to download those games when it much quicker for me just to got to the store and get it, at least for me. What happens if your hardrive messes up or you have to use a different account? I can't let friends borrow the games either if they are downloaded to my account. Disks to me will always be the better option.

TTG_Fighop Good idea for MS because they're making bank.
But bad idea for us because we lose money.

Microsoft makes too much as it is. The fact that they're doing this is ridiculous. They need to make games come with a CD Key (similar to Steam) so that you can download your games anytime you want w/o a disk.

If this is true what about people who lag online? (Like me)
