Report: Next Xbox to "kill" pre-owned, requires always on net connection

4.6
Sources claim to have word that the next-gen Xbox will require an always-on internet connection and will block the use of pre-owned games.

The source says that another source “with first hand experience” of the console adds that games will still be buyable, which are supplied on 50GB Blu-ray discs. It is understood that disc games will use an activation code.

So, no more going to the shops and buying cheap second-hand games? There has to be more people who think this is a bad idea by Microsoft.

This is very old news. I'm surprised that people are just now learning of this. If you want news stories everyday and actually news stories, go to MP1st.com

liTzMannyl Well actually many other are already doing this, if you are a real gamer and not a call of duty fan, you will be noticing games such as, battlefield, fifa, etc they need a code in order to play online. people were hating ant *****..ng for that but at the end everyone was happy, so people is going to deal with it and get use to it :)

TTG_Fighop Good idea for MS because they're making bank.
But bad idea for us because we lose money.

Microsoft makes too much as it is. The fact that they're doing this is ridiculous. They need to make games come with a CD Key (similar to Steam) so that you can download your games anytime you want w/o a disk.

The system rumored here is bulky and unnecessary if Microsoft follows through with this they will not benefit at all, the only people I can see making extra money from this is the chincy game studio administrators who are money grubbing and only care about profit not the player. I doubt this will be implemented but I would like to say that being connected to the internet all the time is frustrating and on top of that not being able to buy used games will bury thousands of local businesses and lower a large player base of the xbox who are low income but enjoy playing previously owned or "not so new games". Honestly the greed in today's society is getting absolutely ridiculous.

Funny how everyone only cares about themselves.

None of you seem to realize that this will almost kill off the high street shops that sell them.
