Thats exactly what I make too. I'm in construction.

Rengar wrote I have a little under 10,000 dollars saved up. Already have my own car and make 1,600 a month at my lowest.

Honestly, if I were you I'd still get more into savings.

Nice man, I work at a dealership. If you're going to do it though I'd give it a shot.. if it fails then oh well you move back home and save money. Definitely worth the experience though, I hope I get to do it sooner than later with one of my buddies.

I think if you show your parents that you have a plan... As in, here is how much I will earn each paycheck, here is how much my apartment and utilties will cost, here is what I have budgeted for phone, food, oil changes, emergencies, etc. Then, I think they will be proud of you. Expect some resistance, your parents will be very very sad to be loosing you. Make sure you are very gentle about this because if they aren't mentally prepared for you leaving early, it will be very difficult.

Go for it and remember, they will treat you at the same maturity level as you act so if you have been mature and trustworthy, then they may just go for it!

If all else fails, explain this strong urge for independance and see if they can meet you in teh middle. No more curfew but you live with them til summer or fall. A compromise that works for both of you!
