Pen-Tooling and making a Render
Step One:
Open up your version of Adobe Photoshop (CS4-CS5-CS6-CC)
In that case my version is CC (Creative Cloud)
Step Two:
After You have opened Photoshop find an Image with character you want to cut out (Make render) And Open It. Try to pick a PNG file they have a higher quality image.
If the image has a background that looks like a checkerboard it is already cut out. Pick a different image that does not have that background.
Step Three:
If the image you have chosen is a JPG or JPEG You will see this little Lock over the layer.
All you must do is Double-Click the word that says "Background" and this dialogue box should appear just hit "OK"
Step Four:
Look in the tools bar on the left hand of your screen and will find a tool that says "Pen Tool" Click it.
Step Five:
After you have selected the Pen Tool Begin By zooming in on the character/image (CTRL + "+") until its close as it gets but not showing white tiles. If you need to zoom out hit (CTRL + "-")
Begin making points around the image very close together. They do not have to be perfect we will add something at the end to fix the jagged edges.
Step Six:
Pen Tool all the way around your image until you meet back at the end. All you have to do Is Click The first point you made at the beginning once you are behind it and they will connect. Next you right-click the set of points and hit "Make Selection" Next you click on Feathering and make the radius 2 then hit OK then you can click on thee selection tool. Next you right-click the selection with the selection tool and hit "Cut" after you have done that you can delete the backing of the render. Next you go to "Save As" name it and save it as a PNG file.
(I USED A DIFFERENT RENDER I WAS WORKING ON BECAUSE THE CURRENT IMAGE WAS TOO LARGE)
I could not show you everything due to me not having a hot key for screenshots.
Final Image should turn out like this
