Discounted Xbox 360s outsell new model

The slimmer new Xbox 360s may look nice, but it appears that not quite everyone has seen the value in owning one just yet; going by US sales data from NPD, the new model accounted for 40% of the 451,700 units sold in June.

The other 60% was made up of older Arcade, Premium and Elite models, all of which underwent price cuts as the new model was released about halfway through the month.

The Arcade unit with its $149 price point — effectively $99 after Walmart’s $50 gift card bundle — was particularly successful (35%).

The new model did well in the UK as well. As data collector Chart-Track revealed earlier, it even managed to beat the launches of both the PS2’s and PS3’s revised designs.

Yeah why not buy a discounted model, if it does the same functions(that is besides kinect) there always seems to be unseen problems that occur with the new models

hopefully there make a better bussiness just hated how people always bought the usless things rather than the console and game E.X Xbox Live vision, Over priced map packs, microphones, AND LOTS more.

But hopefully they will make a profit out of the new console.

I'm sure the sales will pick up, they will be doing something to phase out the older models soon I imagine.
