Xbox 360 Servers Shutting Down in November? “Not True” Says Spencer

4.6
Apparently, talk has been going around about Microsoft shutting down servers for the Xbox 360 in November, thus ending multiplayer support for a number of titles. It’s an odd decision, especially considering the number of previous gen titles that still require Xbox Live Gold for multiplayer support, but not necessarily the strangest. After all, the original Xbox’s services were shut down in April 2010, nearly 10 years after that console launched.

Fortunately, it doesn’t seem like this will be the case. According to Xbox boss Phil Spencer when asked on Twitter about the same, “Not true.” Which is as succinct an answer as it gets.

Despite a decade already passing since the Xbox 360 has released, Microsoft continues to report on sales and profits from the same. Recently, Microsoft introduced Xbox 360 backwards compatibility for the Xbox One and updates fans on the newest games to make the jump. So it’s a given that the Xbox 360 isn’t going away any time soon. What are your thoughts? Let us know below.

Every year it seems like something like this comes up. If they take them offline though I hope they at least make BO1 and a couple other games backwards compatible.

They have to bc every popular game or I am never looking at my Xbox ever again

Wouldn't this kinda void backwards compatibility altogether?
Its probably going to still be going strong for a while anyway

Didn't think so, another year or so at least.

Well no shit, why would they close down in 2016? I give it until 2020

If they are going to shut it down, they must make every popular game available on xb1 as part of the BC.

If they release mw2 as backward compatible i wont mind it

I hope it doesnt get shut down but tbh i wouldnt be bothered at all as i play next gen alot more now anyway.
Sometimes i like to go on old gen just to play with friends that dont have a next gen console but its actually quite fun but the graphics are terrible.

I hope they don't because I like my 360 way more than my Xbox one. The graphics might not be as good but it's still better because of all the original titles that were popular back in the day. I've had my Xbox one for months now and have only played twice, actually it's not even hooked up right now because it's no fun.
