Xbox One Elite Controller Demand “Underestimated” By Microsoft

4.6
Ever wondered why you’re having a hard time finding the Xbox One Elite Controller? It hasn’t been easy for Microsoft which seemed to underestimate the demand for the same. According to Microsoft CMO Chris Capossela who spoke to Geekwire’s Windows Weekly, the company wanted to build many more units.

“Here’s the product we totally underestimated. If I could have built 10 times the number I built, I would have. We got that feedback at E3 that it was awesome, but maybe the price was a little too high, and so that influenced how many we produced.

“On the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving, myself and Kevin Turner our COO, and the guy who runs our stores, David Porter, we go around and visit 30 or 40 different stores. Best Buy and GameStop and AT&T and Verizon and Microsoft Stores, just to see how things look, and the one thing we heard from everybody was, ‘You needed to make way more of these controllers.'”

Sadly, the controller is still sold out in major retail stores. Keep checking back though and let us know whether you’ve had a chance to pick one up.

I'm happy that this controller worked for them. It was pretty ballsy to compete with Scuf!

Agape i am honestly surprised at how well the controller did/is doing, seeing as scuf has been around a lot longer, and its basically the same thing.

The Scuff costs more if you add some of the same features the Elite has.

they start at $119, and include things like trigger stops. even their controllers with 4 pads are $149

um no a scuff is 230 with all mods btw

CB9 Surprised it did so well but then again it was bound to happen

Yeah the controller has a lot of features that would cost more if they were to buy off a diffrent website.

Purchased mine a few days back, waiting for it to be dispatched now, had to pay over the odds for it, such a demand for them, Amazon are taking pre-orders for them, but they don't dispatch until 15th Jan, mad stuff really.

Really hope the controller is as good as it's made out to be!
