Sony Confirms 30-Day Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 DLC Exclusivity

Sony turned the tables at E3 2015 just a few days ago, announcing that PlayStation owners will get exclusive early access to all Call of Duty downloadable content, starting with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.

The news suggests a multi-year deal between Sony and Call of Duty’s publisher, Activision, marking a huge shift in DLC delivery that originally favored users on Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

More recently, Sony’s Adam Boyes was able to confirm with Kotaku that Black Ops 3 DLC would remain exclusive to PlayStation owners for 30 days, as was the case with previous Call of Duty titles and is currently the case with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. One more map pack, Reckoning, is still pipeline for Sledgehammer Games’ title.

With that, what are your thoughts on the new deal? Has it convinced you to buy Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and any future Call of Duty titles on Sony’s platform instead of Microsoft’s?

The games shit. Why would Sony give money to a dieing game? It's stupid. Why would Microsoft even pay for the dlc early after black ops 2? That's when they should have cut it off. Props to Microsoft for realizing how shit the game is. C'mon Sony what are you thinking spending money on this? They should be listening to the players and let them TRY to bring back PS3 games to play on ps4.
Guess I'll be playing Xbox a little bit more due to backwards compatibility..... God damnit Sony y u no have backwards compatibility.

theres a reason microsoft realized that cod is no longer worth it also sony sold more so activision probably wanted more $$$ for the contract. main point being m$ is smart cause as a long time cod player im finally fed up and moving to BF. Just wish i had listened to all the bf players before....

The series turned to shit all the way back at Black ops 1 in my opinion. I simply haven't given a shit about call of duty for like 5 years now. Every year a new "game" comes out. More like a DLC branded like a game for 60 bucks. Sony made a mistake with this in my opinion. They must have given up millions for that exclusivity.

slapshot101 This whole exclusivity deal has actually made me think about getting a Playstation 4. I really liked getting the DLC first because I hated knowing all the stuff before I played. Also Battlefront is playstation focused game, and It's the most important game of the year for me, plus the better graphics in most games at 1080. There really isn't many games that excite me on Xbox this year.

How is battlefront a PlayStation focused game? LOL

I think what he means is that Playstation users gets exclusive content. After I pre-ordered Battlefront the guy even told me Xbox won't be getting the exclusives. Kinda like Destiny Exclusives. Anyways, Dice does indeed have a contract with Sony about Battlefront, I just don't know much, except for what I just told you. I haven't anything about Dice and Microsoft having a partnership.

If people will swap consoles just for exclusives then damn. What a waste.

I hope people know Activison sold themselves off to Sony since Bo3 won't make a lot of money. So by selling themselves to Sony, they made A LOT from that. Activison is about money. That's it. They didn't do it for Sony members. They did it for the money. So all you fanboys, chill.

I don't see why people even care about this.

Whoop-de-bloody-do. You get the DLC a month before everyone else. I didn't understand why Xbox fanboys were so boastful about the DLC when they had the 1-month exclusivity and I don't understand the PlayStation users now.

It makes no difference to how the game plays. Call of Duty doesn't matter enough to me to be bothered by waiting another 30 days before I would've bought a DLC pack, not that I buy them anyway... Call of Duty is a waste of money. Such a repetitive game, the only thing that draws me to Black Ops 3 is the coop campaign.
