Halo 5 co-op requires Xbox Live Gold

4.5
Halo 5 will require you and your BFF to cough up for Xbox Live Gold if you want to play co-op together.

Halo 5: Guardians got a big info blowout this month, and one of the more interesting bits of intel was word that you’d be able to play the co-op campaign without an Xbox Live Gold subscription.

This seemed like very good news as 343 Industries has ditched local co-op via splitscreen, meaning you have to go online to play with your buddy. Unfortunately, it’s not true.

Writing on Halo Waypoint executive producer Josh Holmes said he “misspoke when stating that online co-op campaign would be supported with an Xbox Live Silver account”.

“Co-op campaign will require Xbox Live Gold to play,” he confirmed.

After apologising, Holmes offered a partial solution:

“It is important to us that fans have the opportunity to play the full co-op campaign experience and we are doing this by providing a 14-day Xbox Live Gold trial with Halo 5: Guardians,” he said.

That’s something, anyway. Halo 5: Guardians releases this November. Expect to see it at Microsoft’s E3 2015 conference at 9.30am PDT on June 16.

Wow never would have guessed that lmao. Halos dead guys seriously. It should've ended after 4 and now their just dragging it even further and further just to squeeze out that extra bit of revenue smh

Don't all online services like this require gold anyways? Why would they announce this. And who wouldn't buy gold. If you say you don't have money that's bullshit. You can get a whole year for the price of this game. Even cheaper off g2a

YouricHunt They're stupid for doing this, working with Microsoft to make as much $$$ they possibly can.

Well to be fair I think having an xbox without gold is useless already. Besides they're practically giving you half a month anyways so you can enjoy it if you're truely to cheap to py the extra few dollars a year to play video games with your friends.
