DiRT 3 now Games for Windows Live free; free to all existing owners

4.7
Codemasters have managed to unhook the clutches of the unwanted Game for Windows Live, from their mud-spitting racer, DiRT 3. The new “Complete Edition” comes with every single piece of DLC for no added cost, and should already be in the Steam libraries of any owners of the original version; Mac users too!

It’s been known for a while that the change over would take place, but it’s taken Codemasters an extended amount of time to get the job done. “First up I want to say sorry for just how long it has taken to move DiRT 3 to Steamworks,” said Codemaster’s JUSTBIGLEE, “And I would also like to thank you all for keeping up the pressure on us to move it over.”

The excessive wait hasn’t been unfruitful however. “As a thank you for your patience over this last year we’ll be upgrading everybody who owns DiRT 3 to the DiRT 3 Complete Edition, which will include all of our DLC for no extra cost.”

Even you folk who bought the game at retail can take advantage of the free upgrade. Just find your boxed copy, and whack the key into Steam - the DiRT 3 Complete Edition will be added right into your Steam Library.

In addition to the removal of Games for Windows Live, the new edition also features Steam Trading Cards and all of the DiRT 3 achievements too; which you’ll have to earn again since your previous progress won’t carry over.
