Canadian new game prices jump to $75

Canadian gamers are in for an unpleasant price hike.

As spotted by HardcoreGamer, the local Canadian branches of Amazon and EB Games have raised the prices of upcoming games to CAD$75.

The CAD$5 increasing comes within a year of prices hitting the CAD$70 point.

CAD$75 (£38/€53) currently exchanges for $60, the standard US pricing. The change is likely due to to fluctuation in currency value, but since that doesn’t mean local wages go up, from a consumer perspective it’s just less cash in their pockets.

Standard new release console game RRPs are also pretty expensive in the UK at £50 ($77/€70), Europe at €70 ($78/£50), and Australia at AUD$110 ($85/£55/€75).

Oh, hell – they’re expensive everywhere and none of us are getting paid enough.

well looks like i would be paying 65$ cad instead due to im not paying anyone 75$ for a 60$ game they should of stayed 60$, by what i mean by paying 65$ im getting my games shipped from the us now since its like 5$ 3$ more, its just ridicules of the taxes going up.

Perks of not being Canadian are on the rise. I would assume they get the same prices digitally as the US (on xbox store) so I guess it would only make sense to buy your games that way now (which for some is lame, I know I personally would prefer to actually own the game physically rather then tied to some account digitally).

The reason why pc games are so cheap are because they are shit and can be torrented easily. pc gaming is shit in general.

But seriously you get all of the big titles from consoles on PC + loads of other games on PC, I'm all for a balanced argument but for that to happen you need to give valid points first :)

DeluxeHazard I already feel that $60 is too much for a game. $75 is just a rip off now.

Read the post dipshit, 60 USD is the same as 75 CAD and 75 CAD or 60 USD is only 38 GBP which is really cheap considering most new games in the UK are about 45/50 GBP which is about 77 USD or 96 CAD!
