Canadian new game prices jump to $75

4.5
Canadian gamers are in for an unpleasant price hike.

As spotted by HardcoreGamer, the local Canadian branches of Amazon and EB Games have raised the prices of upcoming games to CAD$75.

The CAD$5 increasing comes within a year of prices hitting the CAD$70 point.

CAD$75 (£38/€53) currently exchanges for $60, the standard US pricing. The change is likely due to to fluctuation in currency value, but since that doesn’t mean local wages go up, from a consumer perspective it’s just less cash in their pockets.

Standard new release console game RRPs are also pretty expensive in the UK at £50 ($77/€70), Europe at €70 ($78/£50), and Australia at AUD$110 ($85/£55/€75).

Oh, hell – they’re expensive everywhere and none of us are getting paid enough.

I already feel that $60 is too much for a game, $75 is just a rip off.

Some of these prices are outrageous I cant believe they have prices like this.

That is quite cheap compared to Europe. But 70 Euro for a game is just ridiculous in the first place.

Jesus christ. I can't imagine paying that much for a freaking video game. Especially with the low quality ones being put out recently like Cod AW....

A14 personally think this is the worst thing. I live in canada and 60$ for a game is crazy. Who wants to spend 3/4 of 100$ for a game. you can honestly get a used xbox 360 for 100 dollars. shame..

Did you read the other prices? $75 CAD is 38 GBP, that is cheap as hell! They're at least 50 GBP when they're released, if you can get a used 360 for $100 CAD then something is wrong with the rest of the world.

Don't see who would pay that much for a game
