PSN Going Down for Three Hours on Thursday Due to Maintenance

Sony Computer Entertainment just announced on its official forums that the PlayStation Network will undergo a maintenance on Thursday 12th February from 5 PM until 8:30 PM GMT, translating to 12 PM until 3:30 PM EST.

For the duration of the maintenance you will be unable to login to Account Management and the PS Store. PS Home will also be unavailable.

PS4 users will be able to access online gameplay only if their system is activated as their Primary system and they have recently signed into their SEN account and have their authentication details cached. If your PS4 system is not activated as the Primary system, online gaming may not be available.

PS3 and PS Vita users may experience limited PSN functionality, however online gameplay will be available to users who have recently signed into their SEN account and have their authentication details cached.

Users who do not have their details cached, will not be able to sign-in to their account or begin an online gaming session.

There may be some additional downtime after the maintenance period for testing purposes.

Time to make sure you log in before the maintenance if you want to keep playing.

Because Microsoft updates their consoles a little less regular, but they are forced offline updates. I mean, the Sony maintenance lets developers update their games as well as Sony to update their OS. Where as with MS it's different.

Being better is an opinion, and only expert opinions stand when it comes to things like this. There is not one expert signed up to the TTG so saying things like that just ends up in stupid people starting stupid console wars.

Three hours isn't that long but still the timing which they have set it for isn't that great.

The one thing I always liked about my PS3 when I had one is that if you were already online, you would be able to stay online during these.

stupid time wise since it's in the afternoon and thats most likely when they have more people online but regardless its nice to see them fixing things.
