'00001' Anniversary Edition PS4 sells for $128K in charity auction

The first-off-the-line Anniversary Edition PlayStation 4 went for ¥15.135 million in an online charity auction last night, which converts to a stunning $128,000. Sony Japan's auction ended this weekend with the huge bid on the special grey console, which is unit "00001" of 12,300.

"We appreciate all who participated in the auction and are surprised at the highest bid price, which was higher than our expectations," a Sony representative told the Wall Street Journal, perhaps with an agape mouth and a lack of blinking.

Cartier Who has this kind of money that is still interested in video game consoles?

A majority of celebrities and big time athletes do believe it or not but who cares really? its going to a good cause.

PS4 Anniversary Edition, only for the true Playstation fans... but only those who are filthy rich. -Sony

I know that the anniversary console looks nice, but paying that much for the first one is just absurd.

RekSai They could of just donated the money instead of trying to buy a PS4 haha :) good corse though =D

I don't think it was as much about the PS4 as it was for the charity tbh, but it's better to see this than Sony just auctioning it off for their own products. Tbh, it annoys me that I pre-ordered my PS4 and I get a regular console, and those that wait get cheaper and better looking consoles, but it's the way it works, I guess. I mean if they pushed the release until February/March and gave these consoles out for all that pre-ordered them only, I would of been happier but I guess it's the way it's always been and it'll always be the same. I mean I have a 6 year warranty, so I doubt I'll be buying any of these new consoles that come out anyway. But damn I would love this!!
