1080p for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare? Wait and see, says dev

4.5
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare developer Sledgehammer Games is not yet ready to say what resolution the game will be running at when it hits store shelves in November.

Speaking to OXM, producer Mike Mejia said that the studio is happy with where it is right now but continue to work on improving it.

“So we’re 60 frames a second all the way,” he said. “We are not talking about the – we’re still waiting for announcements to come out in terms of where we’re at with the resolutions, but I can tell you that the three year development title that we’ve had, working with everyone involved to make sure that we’re getting it right… we’re still optimising the game, but even with where we’re at right now, we’re really happy.

“We’re ahead of where we were last year, and we still have time, we still have a couple of months to go.”

Mejia also touched on the extra power provided to Xbox One developers following the June SDK update.

“All that stuff is all coming online too, as we talk to all the first-party partners that we have – we have a direct connection to those guys, so all that stuff is coming online now. I know we’re working with everyone, we’re working with Sony, we’re working with Microsoft, we’re really happy with what we’re looking at.”

Do you think we’re going to have a similar resolutiongate situation with this year’s Call of Duty like we did with Ghosts?

justahacker Why is the question not "4k for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare?"?. Let's get with the program, devs. We've had 4k resolutions for a good while and it's shocking that so few games even support this resolution.

Anybody who wants to dispute that the 8th generation consoles are not strong enough to push 4k resolutions, I welcome your idiocy. We were chugging through 1080p just fine on the last generation consoles. We played Grand Theft Auto V in all of its glory on the last generation consoles. These consoles, among other things, had 512MB of RAM (Xbox 360) or 256 DRAM (PS3), graphics cards with less than 100MB of RAM for graphics processing, and three cores or less on their processors. Come at me and I'll shoot a ton of holes in your argument.

4k resolutions pl0x.

lol I feel sorry for you. You have no idea what you're talking about. No games bar a few indies ran 1080p on the previous gen consoles. They were all upscaled to 1080p from 720p. The upscaler on the previous consoles was extremely good at what it did. The current gen consoles still haven't maximized it's potential to have the best upscaler. Nor have they mastered the console yet. I'd like to see you shoot tons of wholes in my argument. Frankly, the PS4 doesn't even support 4K output from games. So, they're stuffed. When the Cloud comes into play and the new API's, we might keep constant 1080p but we aren't going to be hitting anywhere near 4k. We haven't touched 2K yet. Please do so research and eductae yourself.

I didn't think it would be any less. With the technology that is in those consoles they are easily capable of running 1080p.

We were not chugging through 1080p on last gen consoles. GTA 5 ran at native 720p, and that was pushing it. Black Ops 2 ran at 880x720 native on 360. The Last of Us ran native 720p, and the devs claimed to be absolutely squeezing every bit out of the ps3's hardware. Halo 4 ran in native 720p. I can't find a game that ran at a higher native resolution than 720p.

AR15
Miss Obviously it'll be 1080p. I don't think they wouldn't have it at that setting. It'd be stupid.

I feel as if you are right in the fact that they pretty much have to leave this at 1080p or face the outrage of the community and what not.

Especially with technology nowadays, it would be rediculous if they didn't.
