GTA Online money glitching: “Rockstar police” go on ban spree

4.7
Sounds as though Rockstar’s getting serious about cracking down on GTA Online money glitchers, with reports surfacing of “undercover” employees infiltrating the community to bust perps.

GTA YouTube DomisLive notes in this video, several prominent YouTubers have been banned over the promotion of money glitching.

YouTubers such as Sir Weed, are apparently being targeted over videos such as this, which shows an exploit to boost bank accounts by millions in minutes:

Rockstar’s increasingly aggressive stance on glitching comes as it builds to the release of Heists, the GTA Online add-on which will supposedly replicates the larger scale robberies from GTA 5′s main campaign.

While no release date has been offered for Heists as yet, constant rumour is pegging the update for the next-gen versions of GTA V later this year. Heists, according to the GTA community, could offer pay-outs as high as $1.5 million per job.

In addition, YouTuber NoahJ456 (who’s also been banned over money glitch violations), rumoured recently that Rockstar employees, whom he dubs “the Rockstar police,” have been entering games to weedle out glitchers before placing them in the Cheaters Pool. Once you’re in here, you’re stuck for weeks.

Money glitching is a major topic among GTA Online players, as the game is notoriously tough when it comes to making cash. Players have long asked Rockstar for easier ways to accrue larger amounts of dollars.

Rockstar has reportedly been hot-patching money glitches with increasing enthusiasm since the last GTA Online update, the Independence Day Special, in early July.

The only current methods to make money are doing jobs (an average mission will net a few thousands dollars), killing people and stealing the cash that drops from the corpse (again, no one’s getting rich this way) or buying in-game currency with real money: The Great White Shark Cash Card, for example, costs £15 (€18.99 on the Xbox Store) and will give you $1.25 million in-game.

People should earn their money. It isn't THAT hard. Why get your account banned, or put into the "cheaters pool" just play fair

The_Toxicator Only losers and sad people cheat because they don't know how to play the game.

Because we don't know how to play a game? its GTA there is no set way to play.
We do these glitches so we don't have to grind the same mission for petty cash.
Yes there is a set way. You play the way the developers intended. Glitching was not intentional by the devs. Please learn some common sense.

Haven't played this game for some time but knowing them they probably banned me for some stupid reason.

People complain about heists way too much, just doing missions is good. The only argument people have is related to heists and being promised to have them added to the game.

BURNING_BARRAGE They should have been doing it a long time ago. If you cheat you should be punished, this game is an rpg so you'll need to grind to get he best things. This game isn't about earning enough money to buy three of the best cars within an hour.

It's people like you that really piss me off! The reason people use glitches is because the economy is out of balance! You shouldn't have to grind missions for hours on end for little cash! Rpg's are supposed to be balanced and not unfair. Hence this is why people looked for exploits! Remember the mission grinding? 9k every 10secs or the 35k every 20secs? People did this since the economy was jacked up! And instead of making it better. Rockstar decided to punish us for every exploit that was released and made it slightly harder to get money per update. Which resulted in even more glitches! If Rockstar did this right then there would be no problems such as this. And of course No heists effected the economy also.

Oh quit your whining. The economy was never "out of balance" until the scum of GTAO ruined it with glitching. Also you're basically saying "i'm too lazy to get something so it needs to be free". Think about the legit players that got high ranks without cheating. Do you think they're complaining about money and grinding?

Yes the economy is out of balance! In the beginning of Gta online it wasn't as bad as it is now. People were just blinded since everyone started off the same and online was just released. But when people started noticing this that's when exploits were starting to get founded and gta online started going down hill. One thing you are right about is how glitchers ruined this game. But if rockstar did their part and made sure no money exploits could be founded then there would be no problem and gta would be a amazing game still. Also they we're given enough time to nearly get rid of money exploits. Sure they may have patched possible money exploits when gta online was being debugged. But even so there shouldn't be this much glitches. But instead of trying to fix the problem they decided to make the economy worse. Every patch there's a change to the economy. Such as less money for races, Less money in Jobs, Jobs difficulty Increased, Etc. They needed to change it for the better not worse. The only way now would be heists it seems. But anyways I made my point.

Isn't the whole story line of the campaign about lying, stealing, cheating, earning money for those actions and then getting away with it? Why should the online version be any different? Why should the online community suffer because of R*'s actions?

Basically, R* is playing cops and anyone glitching is playing robbers, and truthfully, it's more fun than any of the stupid, crappy, low-paying (sounds like a minimum wage job huh?) jobs offered in GTAO.

jdog876 Truthfully if rockstar kept their promise and came out with heists on the first day no one would cheat or hack so I agree that cheaters should be punished but I would say the blame totally goes to Rockstar for all the problems that they caused especially with GTA online.
You are wrong. People will still cheat and hack regardless of heists.

But cheating and glitching wouldn't be so rampant or needed had Rockstar not decreased payouts and replayability of jobs. It's so difficult to actually play legit and have fun because of the mass amount of purchasing you must do, even in free roam.

I was thinking about using a money glitch a few weeks ago because I barley had any money and I wanted to buy some new weapons and the monster truck. I'm happy I didn't use it now because I wouldn't want to get banned from that.
