Skype group video calling now free for all on Xbox One and more

Previously group video calling was available on the Xbox One only to those with Xbox Live Gold membership, all of that has changed due to Microsoft allowing any Skype users to perform group video calling across the Xbox One, PC, and Mac for free. Microsoft has made postings that made it clear that they are hoping to spur more group experiences ranging from personal uses to far within the business world.

For the last few years, we've offered group video calling to Premium users on Windows desktop and Mac and more recently Xbox One," Microsoft explained on the Skype blog, "today, we're excited to announce that we're making group video calling free - for all users on these platforms. And, in the future, we'll be enabling group video calling for all our users across more platforms - at no cost.Skype

Seems like a great feature to have and I will probably use it when more of my friends get the Xbox One.

Looking forward to see what they continue to add and change on the console.

Although I never really use Skype.

I never really use Skype that much also, I like to video chat with my friends thought, so this will be cool.

I've seen this already on the xbox one and i used it just a little bit ago. Very nice for skype to let us do this via console

Never really use Skype in general. I just use FaceTime.

Maggardo Well, wasn't it like this on the Xbox 360, except, it wasn't with Skype, it was with Xbox Live Parties. And video chats, and what not.

They never had Video chat for multiple people.

I didn't even realise they had skype on the 360....shows what I know!

They didn't.
I think they're talking about that kinect stuff

I think that it's cool that you can talk to your friends across different platforms with this. Not just on Xbox or whatever.
