Skype group video calling now free for all on Xbox One and more

Previously group video calling was available on the Xbox One only to those with Xbox Live Gold membership, all of that has changed due to Microsoft allowing any Skype users to perform group video calling across the Xbox One, PC, and Mac for free. Microsoft has made postings that made it clear that they are hoping to spur more group experiences ranging from personal uses to far within the business world.

For the last few years, we've offered group video calling to Premium users on Windows desktop and Mac and more recently Xbox One," Microsoft explained on the Skype blog, "today, we're excited to announce that we're making group video calling free - for all users on these platforms. And, in the future, we'll be enabling group video calling for all our users across more platforms - at no cost.Skype

Maggardo Well, wasn't it like this on the Xbox 360, except, it wasn't with Skype, it was with Xbox Live Parties. And video chats, and what not.

They never had Video chat for multiple people.

I didn't even realise they had skype on the 360....shows what I know!

did you even read this article at all. It says in the past you needed xbox live gold but now it is completely free. If you insist on commenting on an article, read it first especially since it is 1 paragraph.

I agree, I was wondering in the first place why would they do that, but I think most people that have an xbox have gold though..

Pretty cool to actually hear that it's finally implemented. They have been talking about putting this in there for a while now.
