Square Enix India closes without a single release

Square Enix has officially closed their publishing and development facilities in Mumbai after barely a year into operations. The company most famous for the Final Fantasy series set out for their Mumbai office to develop "world class mobile gaming for India" through local partnership with national game studios. According to information given by Square Enix the Mumbai studio at peak only had 6 employees to speak of, there has been no official word if they were simply let go or given transfers within the company.

This kind of sucks. Although I never heard of them. I feel bad for any company that never got a chance to even try to make it.

I feel bad for Square because this was a huge waste of money to open something then close it a year later without any profits.

It wasn't the whole company, it was only Square Enix in India.
