Square Enix India closes without a single release

4.6
Square Enix has officially closed their publishing and development facilities in Mumbai after barely a year into operations. The company most famous for the Final Fantasy series set out for their Mumbai office to develop "world class mobile gaming for India" through local partnership with national game studios. According to information given by Square Enix the Mumbai studio at peak only had 6 employees to speak of, there has been no official word if they were simply let go or given transfers within the company.

Kurisu I don't think they had enough time. That's a problem with todays society. They never even had a chance really.

Or the game just really sucks ;) Haha.

I mean, there's a reason SquEnix has been in business for quite a long time. Yes, their last few entries haven't been up to par sales wise (especially Lightning Returns and the MMO which flopped horribly). I'm not much of a mobile gamer so this doesn't effect me much, but SquEnix is simply trying to cut back in their time of lower funds.

We'll see, maybe they can make it big again with FF15 inbound. Wish they'd do a merger project with Atlus like was rumored a long time ago...

Keep in mind that they always have their trump card as well... creating a HD remake of final fantasy 7.

I don't see why so many people view it as the best Final Fantasy to date, but it's certainly a favorite amongst most so it would rack up a lot of cash. Hopefully no drastic changes occur, actually I would like the change if they did it FF15 style (Looks like a Kingdom Hearts layout to me). That includes free roaming, 3D, and ability to attack at any moment....but that's an unlikely wish.

They should have gotten more employees.

Gossip They should of kept on going. Giant waste of money.

6 employees (at most) and one office that's probably tiny? It's a studio that never really launched. The only reason this is news is because it was backed by Square Enix.
