Sledgehammer Games job listing seeking artist for weather system

4.3
The job listing put out by Sledgehammer Games's own Gamesutra page gave a few details regarding what to expect from the CoD series in 2014 graphics wise. The listing itself was for a temporary VFX Artist position.

The VFX team at Sledgehammer Games is looking for experienced and passionate VFX artists to join our AAA team. In this position, the artists will work closely with the Lead VFX Artist, Art Director, Technical Art Director, Lighting and Design team to create the most exceptional real-time effects with hyper realism for our current project. The candidates will have the opportunity to contribute in various areas of in-game effects including but not excluding weaponry effects, vehicle destruction, large-scaled rigid body simulations and environmental effects such as fire, smoke, water, and weather system.Job Listing

The last sentence should get you excited as it implies upcoming CoD titles will feature full on weather systems. The listing requires applicants to have experience with "current gen" consoles as well as next gen. This is in line with Activision recently confirming that 2014's CoD release will still release on "current gen" consoles.

Lucid_Dreaming As backwards as it sounds, I think it would be awesome if DICE and Sledgehammer would create a game together and publish it themselves with no EA or Activision. Think of it as a CoD and Battlefield collaboration. W/O the ********.

that made me laugh. if Activision and EA made one, it could be the game of the year.

Valor I applied to Sledgehammer Games a couple of months ago. No call back :/

Do you have any experience, did you go for school for game development?

Maybe, he wouldn't have applied without it (unless he's joking around).

Lol I am just messing with you guys, I didn't apply haha.

He did it for the post count. Honestly I don't know how hard it would be to develop a weather system, I wouldn't think it would be too hard.

I am genuinely interested in the next CoD now!

Pretty cool can't wait to see this implemented in the game once the trailer is released, because we all know they will be emphasizing this before the game comes out.

-LOST- Can't wait to see the next two cods. They should be a lot better since they're focusing on the next-gen consoles and not the 360 and ps3.

And you know this how?

Considering support for the 360 will go at least until 2016, and base platform player count is what matters, you can bet that cod won't focus on 'next gen' until they've completely milked this cow dry.

Sledgehammer has said that next cod is going to be more focused on next gen.

OT: just imagine dynamic weather systems that always change when ever you play :o

This is already sort of included in Battlefield 4...

I mean completely random not player controlled, IE they add in all different weather effects/types and make some sort of code that randomly changes the weather or something like that i dunno i don't program but you should understand what i mean ;p

Grimdark I think we're forgetting that every single call of duty's hype has had something to do with "ground-breaking, never seen before content." Then after we're all saying how crappy the game is.

Don't expect it to be good, and don't even buy it. It's literally just recycled sh*te.

okay but for one thing sledgehammer never mad a full cod before... MW3 wasn't THAAATT bad but they kinda had to stick with IW ideas..
