Sony to livestream event for PS4 Japanese Launch

The PS4 will land in Japan to consumers on February 22 and Sony is preparing to livestream their own launch at the Sony building in Ginza.

Sony is set to start livesteaming at 10:30PM local Japan time on the 21st.

Sony Japan Asia president Hiroshi Kawano
Metal Gear Solid 5 director Hideo Kojima
Final Fantasy 15 producer Shinji Hashimoto

Yakuza series general director Toshiro Nagoshi.

To everyone asking why is the release so late in japan -
Officially - Sony wanted to be sure they had the stock and a good line of titles for their home base.

Unofficially - Sony wanted to win the "console war" in Xbox based regions first (UK / US mainly). Quite literally taking the fight to them. Sony knew Xbox wasn't near ready to be released in Japan, so there was really no rush to release it there.

Actually, the majority of PS4's are made in China but your point is still valid, there are some PS4's made in Japan. Also, Japan is a hell of a lot closer than Europe and the US so quite strange that the Japanese release is so late.
